The event, held at the Director General of Police office, brought together Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, senior police officials, and prominent personalities, with the focus on raising awareness about cybercrime. Akshay narrated that initially, the stranger interacted with his daughter in a friendly and seemingly innocent manner. “The game allowed her to play with strangers. The person on the other side started with polite messages like ‘thank you’, ‘well played’, and ‘fantastic’. It seemed like a nice person. After some time, he asked if she was male or female. When she replied female, the tone of the conversation changed,” he explained.

The conversation quickly turned inappropriate, with the stranger making an explicit request for nude photos. Thankfully, Nitara immediately ended the game and informed her mother. Akshay praised his daughter for speaking up without hesitation, calling her reaction “the best part” of the incident.

The actor used this personal experience to send a strong warning to parents. He emphasized that predators often use similar tactics to exploit children, initially building trust before attempting manipulation or blackmail. According to him, open communication and trust between parents and children are crucial in preventing such incidents.

Akshay stressed that incidents like the one involving Nitara are not isolated, and families must stay alert. “This is a wake-up call for all parents. We need to engage with our children about their online activities, the people they interact with, and ensure they feel comfortable sharing anything suspicious,” he said during the campaign.

Cyber Awareness Month 2025, a month-long initiative, aims to educate children, teenagers, parents, and schools on digital safety and cyber threats. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also spoke at the event, highlighting the urgent need for increased vigilance and awareness in the ever-evolving digital landscape.
