Two Terrorist Associates Nabbed in Kulgam as India Ramps Up Action Post-Pahalgam Terror Attack; UNSC Strongly Condemns Incident

After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, security forces arrested two terrorist associates in Kulgam district. As per police sources, both were arrested in the Thokerpora locality of the Qaimoh area. Their identities have not been revealed so far. However, officials confirmed that the arrests were made under the wider crackdown against terrorism launched following the Pahalgam incident. Further details regarding their involvement are awaited.

This immediate action comes soon after another high-profile visit by General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Army Staff of India, to Jammu and Kashmir. This is General Dwivedi’s first visit since the sad Pahalgam attack; he arrived in Srinagar on Friday to review the current security situation. During his visit, he was thoroughly briefed on the conduct of operations against terrorists in Indian territory and also in retaliation to the ceasefire violations being attempted by the Pakistan Army along the Line of Control (LoC).

Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha met with the Army Chief in Srinagar and stressed the need for firm and strategic actions in order to eliminate terrorism in the region. The LG stressed the necessity of coordinated efforts on the part of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). He emphasized that the citizens of India have total faith in the valor and dedication of their armed forces, and that the nation now demands a payback for the victims of the cowardly Pahalgam attack.

“The culprits, their patrons, and supporters have to be hunted down without mercy,” said the Lieutenant Governor in the course of the meeting. “They must pay for their deeds, irrespective of the country that houses them or the nomenclature they claim.”

The international community, in this instance, has also condemned the violence in Kashmir. The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) condemned the Pahalgam terror attack in the strongest terms. The UNSC reaffirmed its commitment to international peace and security, stating that the attackers and people who support terrorism must be brought to justice.

This latest escalation again puts the spotlight on the cross-border terrorism problem and the continuous attempt to undermine the peacefulness in Jammu and Kashmir. The two arrests of suspected terrorist associates in Kulgam are seen as a potent move in breaking the network that perpetrated the attack and to contain any imminent threats.
