As alarming incidents go, former cricketer and present head coach of the Indian cricket team Gautam Gambhir has recently been at the receiving end of a death threat. Reports indicate that Gambhir received these death threats through emails from a set of people who call themselves ‘ISIS Kashmir’. The threats, sent in the form of two email missives, read “IKillU”, evoking grave fear for Gambhir’s life and that of his family.
Gambhir quickly reported the case at Rajinder Nagar Police Station in Delhi where he filed his complaint regarding the threats against him. The SHO of the station confirmed that official request for registering an FIR was submitted by Gambhir. Then the Delhi Police took cognizance of the matter and conducted a nationwide investigation to unravel the sources of the e-mails and those behind it.

Not arguably, the incident threw a serious alarm because of its intimidating naturefollowed by a supposed terror-related group’s involvement.it was investigating when the veracity of the claim is being reviewed by authorities without taking any chances and including all available evidence- digital forensics, IP tracking, etc.-to track the primary source of the emails.
A very brave man both on and off the ground, Gambhir is known to be without doubt a stranger to political or ideological opposition. A former BJP Member of Parliament from East Delhi has expressed his views on various issues affecting the nation, while at times he has been critical of ideologies of extremism. This experience could have landed him as a target, but full devotion from law enforcement authorities is finding ahead the truth behind this threat.
