Bareilly Woman Poisons and Strangles Husband With Lover’s Help, Tries to Fake Suicide in Chilling Echo of Meerut Murders

In a very chilling and strange case that is just like two crimes that happened in Meerut of recent, a 25-year-old woman from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested along with her lover for allegedly murdering her husband. The woman in question is Rekha, who is alleged to have poisoned Kehar Singh, her husband, and then strangled him with a rope on the help of her lover, Pintu. The duo then staged a scene that would resemble a suicide by hanging the lifeless body and locking the room from within.

This shocking incident took place on a Sunday when Rekha allegedly added rat poison to the tea that she gave to Singh. He drank it and fell unconscious, then she called Pintu to the house. The two of them strangled Singh and then hung his body from a ceiling fan with the same rope, attempting to pass off the murder as a suicide. The next day, police found the body inside a locked room, and for a while, they suspected it might be a case of suicide.

Of course, the facts were discovered in the post-mortem report. The authorities confirmed that he had not died by hanging but by strangulation. “Post-mortem report clearly indicates death through strangulation though a closed room suggested the case of a suicide. We are investigating all angles”, stated Additional Superintendent of Police Mukesh Chandra Mishra. After Singh’s brother, Ashok, had filed a complaint, this murder case came to light. He accused his brother of discovering Rekha’s illicit liaison with Pintu recently, which led to the murder conspiracy.

Rekha and Pintu were booked under murder charges at Fatehganj Paschimi police station on the basis of the FIR lodged by Ashok. The two accused individuals were medically examined before being remanded into custody on Friday. According to the FIR, after poisoning Singh, these two waited for him to go unconscious and then strangled him. They later tried to mislead everyone by hanging the body and making it look like suicide.

This case is also chillingly similar to two other horrifying incidents of Meerut where women along with their lovers were said to have murdered their husbands and misled investigators by staging the crime scene. One such incident involved a woman trying to stage the murder by placing a snake alongside the body to suggest a venomous bite. Another most shocking case is, Muskaan Rastogi and her lover have killed her husband, Saurabh Shukla, and thereafter chopped disposable remains into a drum filled with cement.

The public stands stupefied with the notion that how obsession with conspiracy poisons love into a murder motive as the authorities continue with their investigations.
