United in Strength: Celebrating National Girl Me Too Day

Uniting women across generations to heal, empower, and transform the future

Honoring Resilience, Unity, and Shared Strength

National Girl Me Too Day takes place annually on April 7. The day honors the resilience and perseverance of women across generations and the advancements they have achieved collectively. Every woman has the potential to inspire – whether they are neighbors, shopkeepers, sisters, or even unknown individuals. The women around us motivate us to improve and triumph over our challenges. National Girl Me Too Day aims to eliminate barriers among women and unite them from diverse backgrounds. The day also serves to remind women that they have all shared similar challenges and hardships, and that support is just a call away. By supporting one another, the day aids in healing the past and paves the way for a brighter future for future generations.

Background of National Girl Me Too Day

Symonia Montgomery, the founder of the Girl Me Too movement, also established National Girl Me Too Day. It was initially commemorated on April 7, 2017, and since 2018, the day has been recognized each year.

The Girl Me Too initiative was created to promote the healing, empowerment, and education of girls and women. The initiative emphasizes fostering supportive connections among women. It is the creation of two women who viewed life from one another’s perspectives during a period of personal hardship. This awareness ignited an initiative to pursue alterations in how women react to specific circumstances and how they navigate through them. The team is committed to assisting women in recovering from past trauma while providing the resources necessary to strengthen their future. Women from diverse backgrounds unite to exchange resources, showcase their art, and enjoy each other’s company. Women participate in the arts, mentoring, public speaking, and education to provide a voice for those in need. The day is characterized by this straightforward saying: “Separated, we are resilient due to necessity, but united, we possess the ability to transform the world.”

The goal of the Girl Me Too movement is to foster sisterhood among all women, by providing an opportunity to recover from previous wounds, traumas, and anxieties. This healing will offer the means to see life from the perspective of another, leading to understanding rather than judgment. This consciousness will lead to strength and solidarity. The day is devoted to embodying the change we wish to witness via education, charity, volunteering, and eco-friendliness.
