Salman Khan Breaks Silence on Bollywood’s Lack of Support for Sikandar: ‘Even I Need It’
Salman Khan reacts to Bollywood’s silence on Sikandar’s success, saying, “Even I need support.” The film nears ₹100 crore despite mixed reviews.
Salman Khan Addresses Bollywood’s Lack of Support for Sikandar: ‘They Think I Don’t Need It, But Everyone Does’
Although Sikandar has received mixed reviews from critics, Salman Khan remains unaffected in his box office extravaganza. The action-packed film has grossed ₹85 crore in just three days and is shaping into Salman’s 18th film to breach the ₹100-crore club. What, however, has caught the fancy of fans and industry insiders alike is the deathly hush from Bollywood stars over the success of the film.
In a straight-down-the-line interview with Bollywood Bubble, Salman tackled this head-on. The interviewer mentioned that Salman promotes almost all films from his fellows in the industry, excluding Sikandar which hasn’t received a corresponding promotion from Bollywood luminaries. Salman replied nonchalantly, “Maybe they think I don’t need their support. But, everybody needs support, including me.”

This has already gone viral, triggering discussions on Bollywood’s selective appreciation of films. Fans of Salman have also pointed out their disappointment over the scarcity of notes from such big industry names since Salman has always been bold and vocal in backing friends’ movies.
Salman Khan Sticks to Supporting Other Films
Bollywood may speak in low tones, but Salman Khan yet stands steadfast in his last resort of support for other movies. The actor took a moment from promoting his own film to talk about Sunny Deol’s action-heavy upcoming offering Jaat, which is scheduled for release on April 10, 2025. He also spoke highly of the Malayalam blockbuster L2: Empuraan, which stars Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran, and opened just two days before the release of Sikandar to set new records at the box office.
Of these, Sunny Deol is said to be the only Bollywood actor who has officially posted a social media post cheering on Salman Khan’s Sikandar. While Aamir Khan featured in a promotional video with Salman and director AR Murugadoss, there seems to be a drought in general support from the industry.
Box-Office and Critical Response to Sikandar
Although it has garnered mixed reviews, Sikandar continues to be a big mass entertainer performing at the box office. According to News18 Showsha, the film was rated 3.5 stars, claiming that Salman Khan’s presence was larger than life and a good action thriller stayed within bounds. An excerpt from a review reads, “Salman Khan’s presence is electrifying, and he commands every scene with his trademark charisma. Whether he is delivering punchlines, performing stunts, or simply walking into a room, his aura is undeniable. Sikandar is an unapologetic Salman Khan vehicle, and it’s a wild ride that’s sure to leave fans grinning from ear to ear.”

While Sikandar does boast huge collection figures, it also brings home another feather in Singh’s crown: His claim as a Box-Office King. But his frank comments about the industry not supporting him have brought several pertinent questions about camaraderie within the Hindi film industry.
The film is very soon going to breach the ₹100-crore mark, and it remains to be seen if more Bollywood stars throng forward to congratulate Salman for making it another success.
