Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, restated that the state ensures safety for all religious communities, adding that safety for the Hindus guarantees safety for the Muslims as well. In an exclusive interview with ANI, he stated that he wished all to be happy as a Yogi and that Hindus are historically tolerant.
“Among the hundred Hindu families, the one Muslim family shall live the safest. They will practice every religious belief under the sun. But will 50 Hindus be safe among 100 Muslim families? No. Bangladesh is an example,” said the CM, comparing with the international scenario. He also cited historical examples of Pakistan and Afghanistan, exhorting the need for vigilance to sustain communal harmony.
Adityanath mentioned how, in 2017, Uttar Pradesh has changed, as rioting is largely a thing of the past under his government. These riots, stated Adityanath, destroyed properties belonging to Hindus and Muslims before 2017, while the peace restoration was done by strict law-and-order measures taken under his government: “Hindus are safe and so therefore Muslims. Riots were common before 2017, while properties belonging to both communities were being destroyed; but this stopped now,” asserts he.

This is misinformation spread by the Opposition. How much land has actually been utilized for community welfare in the name of Waqf?” he asked. Further, he alleged that on several occasions the Waqf properties were used for personal interests. According to Adityanath, many of these properties have been sold multiple times to different buyers, leading to disputes. “These properties have been exploited for personal gains. Many have been sold multiple times, causing legal conflicts,” he said.
