Did Vijay’s Entry Push DMK, Udhayanidhi Stalin to Toughen NEP Stand?
Dravid Munetra Kazhagam, a political advancement for the people of Tamil Nadu, has recently been fired up for opposition against the NEP 2020 and the PM Schools for Rising India (PM-SHRI) scheme. DMK’s Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin appealed to high heavens rejecting the central initiatives, stating that it imposes languages upon states and takes away state autonomy.
On February 2025, Udhayanidhi Stalin reiterated the state’s old and time-honored objection to the NEP’s three-language policy: Tamil Nadu will “never accept” such measures. Furthermore, he pointed out that Tamil Nadu was being asked to accept NEP and three-language formula as though that would further educational funds due to such unreasonable conditions, which, by the way, diminished the linguistic heritage of Tamil Nadu.
As a result, the DMK’s adamant stand has placed them in public contention with the center’s leading persons. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan claimed that “dishonesty” from the Tamil Nadu government is keeping todays students from a brighter future by refusing to endorse the PM-SHRI scheme. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin responded by lambasting Pradhan’s comments as arrogant and fallacious, before declaring that withholding the rightful educational funds for the State owing to non-acquiescence to the NEP falls under democracy.
However, you cannot pin the entire aspect of Udhayanidhi’s apparent assertiveness on these issues singularly to actor Vijay’s entry into politics.
