ED Raids Ex-CM Bhupesh Baghel’s Son Chaitanya in Liquor Scam Probe
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) executed search operations at Chaitanya Baghel’s locations since he happens to be Bhupesh Baghel’s son during their investigation of the liquor policy case. The authorities carried out their searches on Monday March 10 2025 during an investigation of a suspected liquor fraud that connected to money laundering operations .
The Enforcement Directorate executes searches on the Bhilai properties of Chaitanya Baghel together with several other Chhattisgarh-based individuals based on Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The agency continues to investigate connections between Chaitanya Baghel and a liquor syndicate that have been discovered during the investigation process 1.
An investigation by ED identified that money lost during the Chhattisgarh liquor scandal enabled the liquor syndicate beneficiaries to obtain over Rs 2,100 crore in criminal proceeds. The agency successfully arrested former minister Kawasi Lakhma and Indian Telecom Service officer Arunpati Tripathi together with several others for their involvement in this case.
At the same time the Budget session started for Parliament the ED conducted raids which has led Congress party leader Pawan Khera to claim this shows political manipulation. The office of Bhupesh Baghel has refuted wrongdoing by stating thengoing false case has persisted for seven years.
