Betrayal and Tragedy: The Shocking Murder of Himani Narwal
Murder Case Solved: Accused Facebook Friend Arrested
On Monday, police announced that they had resolved the murder case of 22-year-old Congress worker Himani Narwal by apprehending her Facebook friend, Sachin, also known as Dhillu, 30, who resides in Khairpur village in Jhajjar.
Friendship Turned Fatal
Himani had become friends with the accused one and a half years ago, and he had been visiting her home in Vijay Nagar regularly for the past seven months. Her brother and mother had been residing in Delhi for a long time, leaving her alone at home.
Accused is Married with Children
The suspect, Sachin, is married and has two children. A local court has placed him in police custody for three days. Authorities recovered a mobile phone, laptop, and jewelry that belonged to Himani from Sachin’s mobile repair store in Kanonda village, Jhajjar.
Himani’s Body Found in a Suitcase
On March 1, authorities discovered Himani’s remains packed in a suitcase near the Sampla bus stop along the Rohtak-Delhi highway.
Murder Method: Choked with a Mobile Charger
Speaking to the media, Rohtak Range Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Krishan Kumar Rao stated that Sachin murdered Himani using a mobile phone charger after a dispute at her residence on February 28.
“The defendant connected with Narwal via social media a year and a half ago. He often visited her home in Rohtak for six to seven months. On February 27 at approximately 9 pm, Sachin went to Himani’s home in Vijay Nagar and spent the night with her. The following day, a dispute arose between them over an unclear matter. As emotions escalated, Sachin bound Himani’s hands with her dupatta and choked her with a mobile phone charger cable. Afterward, he packed her body into a suitcase with a quilt that had blood stains,” the ADGP stated.
Robbery as a Motive? Police Recover Stolen Items
Following the murder, Sachin took Himani’s mobile phone, laptop, and jewelry and stored them in his mobile repair shop in Kanonda village, Jhajjar.
“The defendant also utilized Himani’s scooter to transport the stolen goods. After that, he went back to Himani’s residence. On the evening of February 28, he took a cab from Vijay Nagar in Rohtak towards the Delhi bypass in the city. From there, he took a bus to Sampla (approximately 26 km away). After reaching, he walked about 80 meters and dumped the suitcase into the bushes,” the police stated.
Was the Murder Premeditated? Police Investigation Underway
Authorities are investigating whether the murder was planned in advance. Sachin has allegedly told police that he killed Narwal following a confrontation on February 28.
“On February 27 at approximately 9 pm, Sachin went to Himani’s residence and spent the night. The following day, a dispute arose between them regarding an unspecified matter. In the conflict, Sachin bound Himani’s hands with her dupatta and choked her using a phone charger. He subsequently packed her body into a suitcase along with a blood-soaked quilt,” the ADGP stated.
“After the murder, Sachin took Himani’s mobile phone, laptop, and jewelry and hid them at his shop in Jhajjar. He then used her scooter to transport the stolen items,” Rao mentioned.
Dumping the Body: A Calculated Move
After committing the crime, Sachin returned to the victim’s house, placed her body in the suitcase, and left in an auto-rickshaw.
“He stopped close to the Sampla bus stand to mislead investigators. When the auto-rickshaw left, he discarded the suitcase,” the police disclosed.
Surveillance camera footage also surfaced, showing the suspect dragging the suitcase.
Himani Narwal’s Remains Cremated
Himani Narwal’s family cremated her remains on Monday, after initially refusing to do so until they received justice. The cremation took place on Monday night following the arrest of the accused.
Family Demands Justice
Himani’s brother has demanded strict punishment for the accused.
Meanwhile, her mother, Savita Narwal, has raised doubts about the theory that Sachin killed her daughter for financial reasons.
“My daughter didn’t form close bonds with anyone… I want the authorities to explain to me why my daughter was murdered. Money cannot be the motive. If he (the accused) is capable of killing her, then how can he consider himself her friend? The real reason must be revealed to us. I am dissatisfied with the police’s response. I demand the death penalty for him,” she stated.
Conclusion: A Call for Justice
The tragic murder of Himani Narwal has left many questions unanswered. Was this a crime of passion, a robbery, or something more sinister? As the investigation unfolds, Himani’s family and the public await justice.
