He was born in Chembur, Mumbai with a natural inclination towards music since childhood. Hebrew music learning had started with Shripad Padke and then proceeded to Hindustani classical music too. But never was music so much a distraction from studying, which he studied computer engineering. But eventually, music got a stronger hold from him and he switched to professional singing and composing.
The Journey of a Playback Legendary
He made his debut as a playback singer in the film industry by introducing his trademark singing in a single breath through the successful album Breathless (1998). Not only did it win him great popularity, but it also attracted his place into the mobile singing profession. Shankar Mahadevan joined hands with Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa towards the end of the 1990s to create the unsurpassed musical trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy in the history of Indian cinema. Unquestionably, it did change the way Bollywood music sounds with their original scores, subtle fusion of classic, rock, jazz, and electronic sounds.
