Preity Zinta Shuts Down Political Speculations, Talks Patriotism and Comeback with Lahore 1947 alongside Sunny Deol
Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, who dominated the silver screen during the 2000s, is all set for a comeback of sorts with Lahore 1947. Having stayed away from the industry and settled in Los Angeles after her marriage to Gene Goodenough, the fans can’t wait to welcome her back to the big screens. The actress recently took part in an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on X, where she answered questions on her career, patriotism, and whether she had plans to get into politics.
A fan went gaga about asking if she was planning on entering politics, addressing her as a “soldier.” To this, Preity brushed off any political ambition, saying, “No! No politics for me.”. Different political parties have given me tickets and Rajya Sabha seats over the years, and I have politely turned them down as it’s not what I desire.” She also stressed her deep-rooted patriotism, divulging that having a military background has defined her identity more than regional ties. “We fauji kids/ army brats are wired differently. We are not North Indian or South Indian or Himachalis or Bengalis, etc.”. We are Indians, and patriotism & national pride runs in our veins,” she added.
One other fan mentioned an incident in the past when Preity was purportedly attacked by a political party and questioned if that had changed her opinion. The actress answered frankly, her disappointment at the way social media in India has become more venomous, where every statement was politicized. But she emphasized that she is not one to be intimidated easily. “I’m not a politician, nor am I a political person, but as an ordinary person, this really bothers me. That said, I’m also not a fragile flower or a doormat—anyone who attempts to bully me will have a rude awakening.”

In spite of continued rumors, Preity continues to concentrate on her acting career. Her eagerly awaited film Lahore 1947 will have her playing alongside Sunny Deol, produced by Aamir Khan. Interest in the project has only intensified with the news that AR Rahman and Javed Akhtar will also be lending their talents to the movie. As Preity takes her first steps on the big screen once again, the audience waits with bated breath to witness her shine again—but this time, exclusively within the confines of cinema.
