New FBI Director Kash Patel, appointed by Donald Trump’s administration, is the first Indian-American to head the law enforcement agency. Patel said he was proud of his Indian roots and the importance of pursuing the ‘American Dream. ’ Patel’s appointment comes at a time when the United States is deporting undocumented immigrants in large numbers, including many from India.

Swearing-in ceremony was deeply culturally significant for Patel ‘Took oath on the Bhagavad Gita, ’ he says ‘Sat with my girlfriend and family, including my parents, who are sitting in the front row. ’ He bowed down and touched their feet, a Hindu gesture of respect, after taking the oath. Patel also greeted them with ‘Jai Shri Krishna, ’ he says, reflecting his cultural and spiritual connections. His demonstration of respect for his heritage resonated with many Indian-Americans, who saw it as an inspiring moment of representation in one of the most powerful institutions in the U. S.
“I’m living the American dream, ” Patel said. For decades, the U. S. has been viewed as a place where millions of aspirants come in search of a better future. But many immigrants come to the country illegally, hoping to build a life in the United States. With Trump’s tougher immigration policies, thousands of undocumented immigrants, including many Indians, have been deported. In the past two weeks, three U. S. flights have deported hundreds of Indian nationals back to Amritsar, bringing the total number of deported Indians to 332 since Trump took office.

Deportations show the risks for illegal immigrants Salt Lake City, Utah, vlogger Aditya Tiwari, who has been warning people about the risks of illegal migration, has been arrested and deported twice. “There are many risks involved and you will not be treated fairly, ” Tiwari said. “Some agencies will sell you illegal immigration packages, but most of the people who come here on this route get arrested and apply for political asylum. ” Tiwari said there are many scammers and people will tell you that it’s an easy way to come to the United States. “I’ve heard of people making $15, 000 a month by coming to the United States illegally, but it’s not easy. Most of the people come here and get arrested and apply for political asylum, ” he said. “The American dream is attainable, but you have to go through legal and ethical channels. ”
Patel’s journey to the top of the FBI is an example to millions that anyone with the will and the means can succeed in the United States, as long as they do it the right way.
