Viineet Kumar Singh missed Lukka Chuppi due to misunderstanding, now shines in Chhaava after intense training and injury
Actor Viineet Kumar Singh, who is currently enjoying the success of his recent film Chhaava, recently shared about a lost opportunity in his career. The actor, who has been receiving universal appreciation for his performance as Chandogamatya Kavi Kalash in Chhaava, shared that he was originally offered the title role in the 2019 blockbuster Lukka Chuppi. But a misunderstanding resulted in Kartik Aaryan later getting the role.
In a candid conversation, Viineet shared that director Laxman Utekar had approached him for the film, which was originally titled Mathira Lives. “The script was given to me by a friend, but I misunderstood the situation. I thought he was seeking feedback, not offering me the role. I didn’t respond immediately,” he explained. By the time Singh realized it was an offer, it was too late. “When I spoke to Laxman Utekar later, I was shocked to learn they had wanted me for the lead role. It was my bad luck—I mistook the pitch for a casual script exchange,” he admitted.
Though this was a missed chance, Viineet has been creating a buzz with his work in Chhaava, which features Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The box office collection of the film, which has surpassed the Rs 200 crore mark, has seen Viineet play a battle-hardened warrior and poet who walks shoulder-to-shoulder with the king. The actor trained hard for the role, learning to use weapons such as swords, spears, and javelins, and even mastering horse riding.

However, the intense action sequences came with their share of risks. During the filming of the Burhanpur battle scene, Viineet suffered a serious injury. Recalling the incident, he said, “I was on horseback, holding a sword and shield, when my horse lifted its front legs, throwing me off. I landed on my back, and the impact was excruciating. My first thought was, ‘God, let me be able to stand.’ Back injuries can be very risky, and the fall was extremely painful.”
