Delhi Election Results 2025: BJP Crosses Halfway Mark as AAP Struggles; Arvind Kejriwal Holds Ground Amid Intense Vote Counting
The 2025 Delhi Assembly election results are shaping up to be a thrilling contest, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) holding a strong lead past the halfway mark. Five hours into the counting process on Saturday, the BJP maintained its dominance while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) continued to put up a tough fight.
Among the leaders who currently top the AAP tickets, party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tops in his constituency. He and deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, however slipped to the second place in some rounds of counting, way behind BJP rivals. By 12:30 pm Sisodia admitted AAP’s struggle, even hinting that it was ready to accept defeat.
The results of today’s election will determine whether AAP secures its fourth consecutive term in Delhi or if the BJP manages to make a comeback after 26 years. For the Congress, which has seen two back-to-back electoral defeats in the capital, even minor gains would be seen as a positive outcome.
Balloting is being counted from 8 am onwards at 19 centers extended in 11 districts of Delhi. The authorities have made tight security arrangements at all counting venues so that no untoward situation arises. Important districts like Shahdara, Central Delhi, East, South, and Southwest each have only one counting center. In North, West, Northeast, and Southeast districts two centers have been set up and three counting stations have been geared up for New Delhi and Northwest districts.
Early trends align with exit poll predictions, which had indicated a clear advantage for the BJP. The AAP, which has been in power since 2015, was projected to face stiff competition this time, and the numbers so far reflect a challenging battle for the ruling party.

Delhi has recorded a voter turnout of 60.54% on polling day. Says the Election Commission, this figure “stays comparable with previous elections. It was the enthusiasm of voters that shaped the outcome, though.”.
On the eve of the results, there came an added political drama in the form of a major controversy: the ACB at Arvind Kejriwal’s residence, seeking evidence regarding allegations by him that BJP attempted poaching AAP candidates. It further intensified the charged political atmosphere in the national capital.
As the counting continues, all eyes are on whether AAP can stage a late comeback or if the BJP will officially reclaim power in Delhi after nearly three decades. The final results will ultimately shape the city’s political landscape for the next five years.
