20th Delhi Book Fair
20th Delhi Book Fair
If you are a person who breathes, eats and dreams of books day and night, then you are going to love this place. ITPO has organised a week long, 20th Delhi Book Fair 2014 for all book lovers. From comics to fiction, from stories to learning books, you would get everything under a single roof.
You must be thinking ‘who would walk all the way to each and every stall!’ Well ITPO has even taken care of this issue in it’s 20th Book Fair. They have introduced nine free buses which would be available to take you from respective gate to the stalls. Plus if you are scared of standing in huge queue for collecting entry passes then you can be care-free as you can collect the passes right from your zone of comfort, that is your own computer or laptop as ITPO has introduced facility of e-booking.
Also, if you are a movie-freak and stuck with friends who are a book-worm, then you too can have your quality time here as this year’s Book Fair has also introduced a theme based section for all those who love reading or watching movies. “We have exclusive section called Literature Cinema, where people can read about movies which are inspired from literature. Our country is so rich in literature that everyone get inspired from it. It is books that is giving us good movies. Books, newspaper, magazine etc. are never going to get disappear from this world, things would change and would end but these are going to stay forever.” Says V.Merra.
This time more than 225 exhibitors would be exhibiting their books and this time another section has started which is 16th Stationary and office automation 2014, under which 40 more exhibitors would be exhibiting.
“Twenty years ago the publishers thought about putting up this exhibition in collaboration with ITPO. Our major aims are to inculcate reading habits in children and adults, to provide a common platform for readers, publishers and author where they can discuss about anything. The level of publicity that has been done this time would surely bring in more people to the exhibition. Since Delhi is the hub of publishing industry, I think over the year this book fair has become a major show place of progress for the industry. Due to globalisation, liberalisation and technology advancement in country the time is not far when government would levy taxes on books and other reading materials taxed due to introduction of GST in coming time and I would request all the government agency to support our endeavour for keeping books away from the taxation.” says Dr.Ashok Gupta, Federation of Indian Publishers.
This time ITPO has joined their hands with East MCD schools and has organised two drawing competition for students to inculcate their interest towards drawing. On Saturday there would be an open drawing competition for first 400 students.
On wondering whether new publishers have been given a chance to exhibit, V.Meera says, “we have invited all and this is a big opportunity for every publisher, book seller etc. This is our 20th exhibition and yes we have grown a lot. The thing that we have been increasing the book stalls and the area is in itself a sign of success and growth for us. I would really want every reader to visit and enjoy here, because every stall has something exclusive with them.”
The knowledge would spread across the Delhi for a week long. So catch your book before the book fair closes.
