Actor and comedian Sunil Grover joined millions of devotees at Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, for a spiritual experience. The festival, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, commenced on January 13 and will conclude on February 26, Maha Shivratri.
Sunil Grover took to Instagram to share his experience, posting a video of himself taking a holy dip in the river Ganga at the Triveni Sangam. In his heartfelt caption, he expressed gratitude and described the moment as divine and celestial. “Feeling blessed to take a much-awaited dip,” he wrote, adding that the sacred waters have drawn saints and devotees for thousands of years.

The Mahakumbh, held once every 12 years, is significant for Hindus who believe that bathing in the holy waters washes away sins and grants salvation. Sunil Grover is among several celebrities who have participated in the festival this year. Earlier, singer Guru Randhawa shared a video of his holy dip at the Sangam, and former actor Mamta Kulkarni was honored with the title of Mahamandleshwar by the Kinnar Akhara. Veteran actor Anupam Kher also posted about his spiritual experience, stating, “Life became successful by taking a dip in the Ganga at Mahakumbh.

The festival has seen over 10 crore devotees so far, despite the cold weather. Pilgrims and saints from all over India have gathered to perform rituals and participate in the sacred baths. The remaining major bathing dates include Mauni Amavasya on January 29, Basant Panchami on February 3, Magh Purnima on February 12, and Maha Shivratri on February 26.
The Mahakumbh began with the Pavitra Snan and celebrated its second day on Makar Sankranti with the Amrit Snan. Thousands continue to arrive daily at the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers, making this year’s event a grand success.
