Retired Army man allegedly kills wife, boils body parts, and dumps remains in Hyderabad lake
In a shocking incident in Telangana’s Hyderabad, a retired Army jawan, Gurumurthy, allegedly murdered his 35-year-old wife, Puttavenkata Madhavi, and attempted to dispose of her remains in a gruesome manner.
The crime reportedly took place in Venkateswara Colony under the Meerpet Police Station limits in Rangareddy district. Madhavi had been reported missing on January 18 after her mother, Subamma, filed a complaint with the police. She had reportedly left her home on January 16 following an argument with Gurumurthy, said Meerpet Inspector Nagaraju.
Gruesome Details Emerge
During the investigation, police detained Gurumurthy, who works as a security guard in Kanchanbagh. He allegedly confessed to killing his wife in a fit of rage during a heated argument. After the murder, he reportedly took extreme steps to eliminate evidence.
According to police sources cited by The Times of India, Gurumurthy dismembered Madhavi’s body in the bathroom and boiled the parts in a pressure cooker. He separated the bones from the flesh, crushed them with a pestle, and boiled them again. Over three days, he allegedly packed the remains in a bag and dumped them in a nearby lake.
Investigation Ongoing
As of late Wednesday, police teams, including a dog squad, were conducting an extensive search in the lake to recover the victim’s remains. LB Nagar DCP stated that while the suspect has admitted to the crime, the investigation is ongoing. “As of now, we are not finalizing the death. We have to find out the truth,” the officer said.
The couple had been married for 13 years and lived with their two children in Venkateswara Colony for the last five years. On the day of the murder, the children were reportedly visiting the suspect’s sister. Gurumurthy had informed Madhavi’s parents about her supposed disappearance, allegedly fabricating the story of her going missing.
Meerpet SHO K Nagaraju confirmed the case is currently being treated as a missing person investigation due to the lack of concrete evidence of murder.
