The 16-year-old, who became an overnight sensation after an influencer shared her video online, revealed that her sudden popularity has brought her unwanted attention. “I am scared. No one is here to protect me. Anyone can harm me. There is no electricity, yet people barged into the tent,” she expressed. Monalisa also mentioned that her father later arrived and denied having sent the men, confronting them for their actions.

The young vendor has faced a great deal of hassle in her life after her fame. Her video shot at Maha Kumbh Mela, which captures her natural beauty, brought a lot of attention to her but has also dislocated her means of livelihood. She is now being asked for pictures and interviews all the time rather than selling garlands.
According to reports, her father sent her back home because of the harassment, but her grandfather has denied the news. Speaking to the media, her grandfather, who lives in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone district, said Monalisa is still at the Maha Kumbh Mela.
“She is very upset in Prayagraj. She cannot work since people are continuously clicking pictures and involving her in chit-chat. That’s hampering her sales of the products, she said.”.

The popularity that brought Monalisa viral fame has indeed driven away the darker side of it, where admiration often turns into an invasion of privacy, risking her safety and livelihood.
