A shock waves run through Punjab politics as AAP MLA Gurpreet Gogi was found dead with a gunshot wound to his head at his Ludhiana residence. The attack happened at night, and Gogi was taken to a hospital; it was established he had passed on. As it has emerged from the early reports, it is thought that licensed pistol of Gogi went off by accident while the man was cleaning it and this led to his death.
It is understandable that when sitting MP Gogi was assassinated AIADMK, the AAP, its parliamentary leader, Bhagwant Mann and others condemned the barbaric act. During the inquiry the CM said that Gogi was a loss to the party and the state, and that a proper probe into the incident that led to the death of Gogi would be conducted. Gogi, 58, was a very popular leader in Punjab politics before joining AAP in 2022, and was elected for Ludhiana West constituency in the same year.
The passing of Gogi has occurred as a massive blow to the Parastatal organization across the state, many of his close friends and coworkers described him as hardworking, dedicated as well as a passionate leader. More so he was an epitome of hardworking in his constituency, and his push to work to address their issues. Moreover, the day before his death, Gogi had gone to a temple and after asking devotees, told them that he would soon arrest the burglars who had stolen silver from the temple.

Currently the police has begun investigation over the cause of the death of Gogi, although the circumstances by which he died is still unclear. Even though initial statements have pointed to the event as being a shoot accident, on is eager to get to the bottom of the whole circumstances. The coroner’s report is yet to be released to guide on the cause of the death; the police are trying to look into some of the camera footages and talking to some of the witnesses to establish what happened on that fateful night.
Gogi’s death is a tragic reminder of the risks and uncertainties that come with public life. Despite the challenges and dangers, leaders like Gogi dedicate their lives to serving their communities and making a positive impact. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the work he did to make Punjab a better place. As the state mourns the loss of this remarkable leader, it’s clear that his memory will continue to inspire and motivate others to follow in his footsteps.
