Hrithik Roshan Nervous About Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai Re-release After 25 Years

Hrithik Roshan reflects on Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai re-release, shares fears and nostalgic filming moments

Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan has expressed mixed feelings about the re-release of his debut film, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, which originally premiered in 2000. Speaking at the trailer launch of Netflix’s upcoming docu-series The Roshans, Hrithik shared his apprehensions about how the film would be perceived by today’s audience.

“I am so afraid the film is releasing again. People might watch it now and think, ‘What were we even thinking back then?’” Hrithik said, reflecting on how times have changed. Despite his nervousness, Hrithik fondly reminisced about the making of the movie and the journey that followed.

Recalling a memorable moment from the shoot, Hrithik shared an anecdote about the song Pyaar Ki Kashti Mein. He revealed that he had to play the guitar for the sequence but didn’t know how. “I was told just a day before the shoot. I stayed up all night trying to make my fingers move like I was playing an actual instrument,” Hrithik laughed, adding that his son later pointed out he was playing the wrong notes in the film.

Released on January 14, 2000, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai became an overnight blockbuster. Directed by Hrithik’s father, Rakesh Roshan, and featuring music by his uncle, Rajesh Roshan, the film’s songs like Na Tum Jano Na Hum and Ek Pal Ka Jeena became iconic hits. The movie catapulted Hrithik into stardom, making him one of Bollywood’s leading actors. It also became the second-highest-grossing film of 2000, following Mohabbatein.

The re-release of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai on January 14, 2025, coincides with Hrithik’s 50th birthday on January 10, giving fans a chance to relive the magic of the iconic film.

Meanwhile, Netflix’s The Roshans, a four-part docu-series exploring the family’s legacy in Bollywood, premieres on January 17. It delves into the lives of Roshan Lal, Rajesh Roshan, Rakesh Roshan, and Hrithik Roshan, offering fans an intimate look at the family’s cinematic journey and personal milestones.

Fans are eagerly awaiting both the re-release and the docu-series, which celebrate the legacy of the Roshan family.
