Being mad about Dance
The two famous street dancers of UK and also the star cast of ‘Mad about Dance’ landed in Delhi and made an appearance in the AB restaurant, Connaught place for the promotion of their upcoming movie on August 19th 2014.Produced under the banner of Paanch Rupaiya Barah Ana, the movie stars Saahil Prem and Amrit Maghera in the lead roles.
The movie is about life, triumphs and the struggles of Indian dancers in UK. The plot shows the other side of the glamorous life abroad. The debut director, Saahil has spent five years in UK and so, the film is more from his personal diary. The director-cum-actor said, “I never thought of directing a movie. However, while studying abroad, when I expressed my desire to participate in a dance performance, people looked down on me because I was an Indian. This incident inspired me to make a movie on this stereotype mentality that just because we are from third world does not mean we cannot outperform others. Though in this movie, I do not intend to prove that we are superior to others, instead simply wish to convey that we are not less than anybody else”.
While talking about dance, Saahil gives all the credits to the famous choreographer Salah Benlemqawanssa, who is also a part and parcel of this film. Popularly known as Spider Salah, this international dancer is also a role model for Saahil Prem and many others round the globe. Audience will get to learn much more about different dance forms like hip-hop, B-Boying, Krumping, Popping and Locking. It will be like a jackpot for all dance lovers. This movie would also inspire the audience to re-live their dreams again.
Talking about her experience, the debut actress, Amrit Maghera said, “It was a wonderful experience working with Saahil, both as an actor and director. The most amazing part was when Saahil acted as a co-star at one moment and then at the very next moment, he turned into a director announcing ‘cut’ etc”.
The duo had many funny moments on sets. Saahil mentioned the funniest part was teaching hindi to Amrit. This madness for dance is all set to fire the big screens on August 22, 2014.
