In one of the most emotional moments, the singer reflected on taking a break from music for more than two years to concentrate on his struggle with bipolar disorder, a choice that profoundly impacted his self-esteem. Singer and rapper Honey Singh provides an honest insight into his experiences with addiction, mental health issues, and personal hardships in his documentary, ‘Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous’.

I felt shame when my father had to work

Honey Singh expressed, “During the 2-2.5 years I wasn’t working, it was an awful period. A young man is at home, sleeping until 12:30 PM. In the meantime, Papa went to his job and returned. When he glanced at me and our eyes connected, I felt immense shame knowing I wasn’t earning and that my father had to work at his age.”

He stated, “My parents have accomplished much for me. I was unable to assist them in any way. They continue to wait for me, and I can’t even stay at home when I return. When I was at home, I felt like a crazy zombie. What have they witnessed up to this point? I have witnessed it all. To those viewing this documentary, I simply urge you to look after your parents. “If they go, they won’t return.”

I witnessed hell

Honey Singh also shared his experience with bipolar disorder. He disclosed, “It was bipolar disorder.” Psychotic symptoms were also present. What occurs next is that your mind becomes unmanageable. You begin to experience dreams when you’re conscious. I would feel frightened even when my maid arrived, worrying that she’d be mocking me while cleaning up blood from the floor, etc. It felt strange. I believed I would never get to see my parents again. I witnessed hell. “I longed for death each day.”
