The city of Prayagraj is all set to host the Kumbh Mela 2025, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, with a focus on cleanliness and sustainability. The Uttar Pradesh government has launched the “Swachh Kumbh” initiative, aiming to provide a clean and hygienic environment for the millions of devotees expected to attend the festival.

To achieve this goal, the government has made elaborate arrangements for sanitation and waste management. A total of 1.5 lakh toilets will be constructed across the mela area, including 20,000 eco-friendly toilets and 30,000 mobile toilets. Advanced waste management systems will also be put in place, including a network of underground sewage pipes and a waste-to-energy plant. The plant will convert organic waste into compost and energy, reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills. Furthermore, a team of experts will be stationed at the mela to monitor and manage waste disposal, ensuring that the festival grounds remain clean and pollution-free.

The “Swachh Kumbh” initiative is a significant step towards promoting cleanliness and sustainability in the city of Prayagraj. The government’s efforts are expected to set a new benchmark for cleanliness and hygiene at large public gatherings, and serve as a model for other cities to follow. With its focus on sanitation, waste management, and sustainability, the Kumbh Mela 2025 is poised to be a truly “Swachh Kumbh”.
