Who Was Tulsi Gowda?
- Tulsi Gowda was born in Honnali village, Ankola Taluk, Karnataka. She belonged to the Halakki tribe, an indigenous community.
- She worked for over 30 years as a temporary volunteer in the forest department. Her commitment earned her a permanent position, and she retired at the age of 70.
- Despite lacking formal education, Gowda’s vast knowledge of forests and plants earned her the nickname Encyclopedia of Forest.
