Raj Kapoor, who transformed Indian cinema with his extraordinary on-screen charisma, memorable performances, and love for storytelling, would be celebrating his 100th birthday this year. Raj Kapoor, affectionately known as the “greatest showman of Indian cinema,” was a prominent director, producer, and actor whose contributions still influence and inspire Indian films.

The Kapoor family organized a glamorous gathering to honor Raj Kapoor’s 100th birthday anniversary. Veteran stars Randhir Kapoor and Babita, together with Neetu Kapoor, Rima Kapoor Jain, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and others, joyfully celebrated the birthday of the iconic actor with enthusiasm and flair. The celebration will additionally highlight a retrospective featuring 10 of his legendary films, which will be shown in 40 cities and 135 theaters throughout India over the weekend.

PM Modi pays tribute
PM Narendra Modi honored Raj Kapoor on the occasion of his 100th birthday anniversary through a post on his X account, he wrote, “Today, we mark the 100th birth anniversary of the legendary Raj Kapoor, a visionary filmmaker, actor and the eternal showman! His genius transcended generations, leaving an indelible mark on Indian and global cinema.”
He added, “Shri Raj Kapoor’s passion towards cinema began at a young age and worked hard to emerge as a pioneering storyteller. His films were a blend of artistry, emotion and even social commentary. They reflected the aspirations and struggles of common citizens.”
Praising Raj Kapoor’s ‘legendary’ creations and the soundtrack of his movie, he additionally noted, “The iconic characters and unforgettable melodies of Raj Kapoor films continue to resonate with audiences worldwide. People admire how his works highlight diverse themes with ease and excellence. The music of his films is also extremely popular.”
PM Modi wrapped up his post by stating, “Shri Raj Kapoor was not just a filmmaker but a cultural ambassador who took Indian cinema to the global stage. Generations of filmmakers and actors can learn so much from him. I once again pay tributes to him and recall his contribution to the creative world.”

Earlier this week, the Kapoor family, which includes Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Saif Ali Khan, among others, visited PM Narendra Modi at his home in New Delhi to offer a special invitation for the celebration of Raj Kapoor’s birth anniversary.
