Rupali Ganguly, known for ‘Anupamaa’, has finally spoken out about the controversy regarding her relationship with her stepdaughter, Esha Verma, who recently labeled the actress as ‘toxic’ and ‘abusive’. Esha, the daughter of Rupali’s spouse, Ashwin Verma, and his former wife Sapna Verma, openly expressed her frustrations, while Rupali kept quiet until this moment.

Rupali disclosed the psychological and emotional impact that the controversy has inflicted on her. The actress expressed in Hindi, “Agar main kahoon ki nahi affect hoti toh main jhoot kahungi, of course affect hoti hai. Hum insaan hain agar hamare baare mein koi peeth peeche thodi si burai bhi kar de toh bura lagta hai.”

About the controversy
The entire situation began when a 2020 Facebook post by Esha reappeared online, in which she alleged that her father Ashwin had an affair with Rupali while still married to her mother.
Last month, the legal team for Rupali acted swiftly in response to the allegations. The actress initiated a defamation case worth Rs 50 crore following harmful statements made by Esha online. Simultaneously, right after getting the notice, Rupali’s stepdaughter removed all posts on her social media accounts concerning Rupali and set her Instagram account to private

Numerous cast members of Anupamaa departed from the show individually, mainly due to their supposed poor relationship with Rupali Ganguly. Sudhanshu Pandey, who portrayed Vanraj, was the first to exit the show. Then, Madalsa Sharma, who portrayed Kavya, also left the show. Rupali’s cherished co-actor Gaurav Khanna is the newest to leave the show. He portrayed Anuj Kapadia in Anupama, and fans loved his chemistry with Rupali.
