India Takes Commanding Lead in 1st Test Against Australia
Day 2 of the 1st Test between India and Australia saw the visitors take a commanding 46-run lead, thanks to some exceptional bowling by Jasprit Bumrah and Harshit Rana.
India’s Bowling Dominance
Bumrah, who is also the stand-in captain, led from the front, taking his 11th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. He finished with impressive figures of 5/30 in 18 overs, including the crucial wickets of Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, and Pat Cummins. Harshit Rana also chipped in with three wickets, helping to restrict Australia to a paltry 104 runs in their first innings.
Australia’s Batting Woes
Australia’s batting lineup struggled to cope with the Indian bowling attack, with only Mitchell Starc showing some resistance with a 26-run knock off 112 balls. The hosts were eventually bowled out for 104 runs, giving India a significant lead.
India’s Second Innings
India started their second innings cautiously, with openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul adding 27 runs in 7.5 overs before the close of play. India’s lead now stands at 73 runs, putting them in a strong position to dictate the course of the match .
