Nikhil Singla, second-year BA (Prog) English and Political Science student, Kirori Mal College, reflects, “The₹60 plate of bhel puri will now never taste the same. It is a loss as Pinki Uncle passed away on November 17. He would be there at the right time to point out a quote or make a humorous remark brighten up my day while I was rushing between classes or just catching a quick bite. His personality was as zesty as his bhel puri; his absence is deeply felt.

For many of these students, Pinki Uncle was more than just a vendor; he was their confidant and comforter. Mantasha Khan, a first-year student in Zoology at Hansraj College, reminisces: “After a really terrible test, I went to his shop with friends. He noticed how glum I was and made some jokes that really lightened my mood. He was such a special fellow because he connected with each one of us.”. He was not only dishing out food; he was dishing out smiles and positivity.”

PhD aspirant and former MA English student Nikita of the Faculty of Arts shares her fond memories. “I hated going to classes, and Pinki Uncle’s stall became my hideout. His bhel puri was irresistible, but his sense of humor made him legendary.”. I still remember when he joked about charging ₹70 for half a plate and ₹60 for a full one—I fell for it! Those small interactions made my college days unforgettable. My DU experience feels incomplete without him.”
For generations of DU students, Pinki Uncle was always there, as steady as the campus life changing. It is more than a loss to the street food enthusiasts; he has lost the entire community that enjoyed his humor and warmth. Delhi University will remember Sunil Sethi, with his contagious laughter and tangy flavors, for eternity.
