Horrific Road Accident on Yamuna Expressway: Double-Decker Bus and Truck Collision Leaves 5 Dead, 15 Injured in Aligarh
A double-decker bus while going from Delhi to Azamgarh met a truck traveling to Agra under Yamuna Expressway near Tappal, Aligarh. Five people were killed in the collision. More than 15 people were injured, and most were said to be critical.

The victims include three men, a woman, and a child, whose bodies have not been identified yet.
The incident happened around 1 a.m. at point no. 56 expressway. the blow was so fierce that the conductor side of the bus was totally mangled, leaving the panic and pandemonium among the passengers most of whom were sleeping at the time. Policemen and highway patrol team reached in time to pull out injured people from the vehicular wreckage while onlookers helped extricate the passengers caught inside. Distraught cries filled the air as passengers are pulled to safety. Injured women and children were lying on the road, leaving the witnesses shocked by the tragedy.
The injured were carried to Kailash Hospital in Jewar as well as other hospitals in Aligarh. It was an extremely challenging rescue operation because most of the victims remained stuck among the rubble. During this time, the police made all efforts to regulate the situation and maintain free flow of traffic as the accident created a long traffic jam along the expressway.

Inspector Shishupal Sharma of Tappal confirmed the fatalities and said that efforts are on to identify the dead bodies. He further added that the traffic condition is being normalized by shifting away the damaged vehicles from the road.
The accident is a stark reminder of the requirement of vigilance and safety measures in highways. As investigations continue, one will definitely ponder on all probable causes, such as mechanical failure or exhaustion of the driver, to prevent such horrors from occurring again in the future. For the moment, prayers are with those lost in this incident, and hopes are made for quick recovery of those injured.
