Per TMZ, Ellen DeGeneres, a well-known comedian, and her wife, actress Portia de Rossi, who are said to have relocated to England. According to the celebrity news outlet, the duo apparently made the move after becoming disenchanted with Donald Trump’s win in the recent U.S. presidential election. The lovely and peaceful Cotswolds in South West England proved to be their final destination.

Sources close to the situation say Ellen and Portia bought the Cotswolds home before the elections but that Trump’s victory proved to be just the catalyst they needed to make their relocation permanent. The couple has apparently been “very disillusioned” by the election result, and they feel compelled to “get the hell out.” To cement their exit, they are now putting their Montecito, California, home on the market, which follows an earlier sale of another U.S. mansion for a bonanza $96 million.

This is one of the several decisions that reflect a broader trend among some liberal-leaning celebrities who had previously threatened to leave the United States under a Trump administration. Ellen, however, seems to be one of the few who has followed through.

Ellen has been clearly vocal about her political views. She famously promised never to host Donald Trump on her show, citing irreconcilable differences between his politics and hers, especially his animosity toward liberal media and progressive policies. Taking off from the U.S. also speaks to her about staying true to her words.

For Ellen and Portia, the move to the serene Cotswolds might offer a fresh start away from the politically charged atmosphere of the U.S. While it remains uncertain if this relocation will be permanent, the couple’s decision has already drawn attention as a symbolic response to the polarizing political landscape in America.
