Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray launched the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Maharashtra state elections on Thursday, focusing on free education, price control for essential goods, and scrapping the Dharavi redevelopment project. Thackeray shared that many of the promises align with the broader agenda of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, which includes Congress and the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction).

Thackeray pledged that, if the MVA comes to power, they would extend free education to male students in Maharashtra, similar to the benefits currently provided to female students. Additionally, the party promises to stabilize prices for essential items to ease the burden on citizens.

One of the major points in the manifesto is the commitment to cancel the Dharavi redevelopment project, citing its potential impact on Mumbai’s heritage and residents. Instead, Thackeray proposed a new housing policy to address the state’s rapid urbanization needs. The manifesto also includes plans to create jobs and ensure that the cluster development of traditional settlements like Koliwadas and Gaothans respects residents’ wishes.

Meanwhile, the Ajit Pawar-led faction of the NCP has also released its own manifesto, as the party contests as part of the ruling Mahayuti alliance, which includes the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) and BJP. Pawar’s manifesto promises to increase financial support under the Ladki Bahin scheme to Rs 2,100 from Rs 1,500 and raise the Shetkari Sanman Nidhi scheme amount for farmers from Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000 annually.

These manifestos reflect each party’s vision for Maharashtra’s future, with both alliances vying for support by addressing various public concerns, from education and job creation to price control and housing policy.
