A 32-year-old Rajasthani man was arrested in Karnataka and turned over to Maharashtra Police on Wednesday after allegedly threatening to assassinate Bollywood star Salman Khan, according to police. The defendant, who goes by Bhikha Ram and goes by Vikram, lives in Jalore, Rajasthan.

One person was detained in Haveri Town and turned over to the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) today, according to information obtained from them, Haveri Superintendent of Police Anshu Kumar said. Before relocating to Haveri approximately a month and a half ago, the suspects had been lodging at different places in Karnataka, according to police sources. They stated that he was living in a rented room in Gowdar Oni and had been working at construction sites.

According to a police source, “The accused abruptly called the Mumbai Police control room and threatened to kill Salman Khan while he was watching a regional news station. He works for a daily pay and says he likes gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. This is his story, but the Mumbai Police will question him in-depth and look at it further. Only after securing him, our squad turned him over to the Mumbai Police.
The menacing message said: “Salman Khan must visit our temple and apologize or pay ₹5 crore if he wishes to survive. Our group is still active, and we will kill him if he doesn’t comply.” At first, the message sender claimed to be the brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is in incarcerated, he added. According to him, a case against the accused was filed at the Worli police station.
