Guruprasad: Police reported that Kannada filmmaker Guruprasad was discovered deceased in a suburban residential area on Sunday.
Guruprasad: He hung himself around five to six days ago
The police stated that Guruprasad, a Kannada film director, was discovered deceased in a residential complex on the city outskirts on Sunday. According to news agency PTI, it is suspected that the 52-year-old director died from suicide. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of Madanayakanahalli police station.
Basavaraj S Bommai offered condolences
In a post on X, ex-Chief Minister Basavaraj S Bommai expressed his condolences. Unfortunately, it is a sorrowful truth that the renowned filmmaker Guruprasad has left this world. He has contributed numerous excellent movies to Karnataka. It is extremely sorrowful that he took his own life. May his soul rest in eternal peace in the presence of God. Mr Bommai wrote “Om Shanti” in Kannada.

Police statement
Police sources reported that the body, in a decomposed state, was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in the flat, with neighbors notifying the authorities due to a foul odor. They have moved the body for examination after death, they stated.

Superintendent of Police CK Baba
Filmmaker Guruprasad was reported to be feeling distressed, possibly about his movie or another matter. We were informed that he was experiencing financial difficulties… about five to six days ago, neighbors had observed him entering this residence, and since then he had not been seen leaving. CK Baba, Superintendent of Police (SP) in Bengaluru Rural, stated to PTI that it seems he hung himself around five to six days ago and passed away. Speaking to journalists, he stated, “Upon viewing the body, we have filed the case and will proceed with the investigation.” Guruprasad gained fame for his movies like Mata, Yeddelu Manjunatha, and others.
Guruprasad was pressurized
There are reports indicating that Guruprasad might have felt pressured by creditors, reportedly prompting him to take this drastic action. The director, who had recently gotten married again, was also dealing with financial difficulties, which included unpaid purchases.
