When he asked his maid his face opened up and this revelation prompted a humorously funny comment on haggling over ₹1,000, underlining the strange situations that life can throw up in Bengaluru. It gave way to widespread comments from people around the time, people who came out and shared some of their own experiences and observations.

One person commented with a laugh, “My former driver came in a Skoda Rapid”, clearly a surprise affluence often found in domestic staff. Another user remarks that her colleague’s cook earns enough, “he earns the two incomes of her family”, over ₹3 lakhs, ‘indicating a different financial landscape; one where household help can take home relatively large sums’.

Of course, the joke continues: “Just discovered that my cook took a flight to go back to his hometown! Anything is possible,” with one user quipping, “Wait till you discover your cook is the CEO of Cook Services.” More than 900 people like it, and over 130 have reacted; it is just one of the quirky realities of modern life in Bengaluru, where even the household help can live lives that surprise and delight.
