DK Shivakumar, the deputy chief minister of Karnataka, visited the scene of the tragedy on Tuesday night and declared that any unauthorized construction in Bengaluru would be addressed. “I was informed that this is an illegal construction without the necessary permissions,” he stated. The builder, contractor, and any other parties involved will face severe consequences. I gave the officials instructions to locate such constructions throughout the city and put an immediate end to them.

It is also thought that one of the reasons the bengaluru building collapsed like a deck of cards was the heavy rain that fell around the city. 186.2 mm of rain fell on Bengaluru, reportedly the most in a single day in the previous 25 years. Roads were flooded and traffic stopped, resulting in massive burns on the city’s north side. After rain caused chaos in the city, many apartments in Yelahanka were under water.
