Adar Poonawalla’s Serene Entertainment has bought a 50% stake in Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions for ₹1000 crore, beating bids from major companies like Reliance and Saregama. Despite the sale, Karan Johar will continue to own the other 50% of the company and will stay in charge of its operations.

Dharma Productions, founded by Karan Johar’s father, Yash Johar, in 1976, is one of India’s most successful film production houses. It has produced popular films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Brahmāstra. Over the years, it has built a strong legacy of creating movies that resonate with Indian audiences and also find success globally.

Adar Poonawalla, who leads Serene Entertainment, expressed his excitement about the partnership. “I am delighted to partner with such an iconic production house and my friend Karan Johar. Together, we aim to build Dharma and take it to new heights,” Poonawalla said.
