Lord Raj Loomba Launches “Widow Warrior: The Cause That Shaped My Life” – A Memoir of Triumph and Compassion

First we meet young Raj, under the fatherless roof of the family house in a small Punjabi town; the restricted life of widowhood that his mother has to endure becomes palpable before his eyes. It moved him and roused him to the cause of combating the social injustice that comes with the widow hut. “Widow Warrior” is not just a memoir, it is a story of what compassion looks like, what resilience means, and why someone cannot give up on the world ever.

In this charity, The Loomba Foundation, that Lord Loomba has, he has intervened and raised the standards of living for many a widow and her dependants. This led to the launching of the United Nations International Widows Day observed on the 23rd of June every year to draw people’s attention to the plight of widows and push for change.
