“Prime Minister Modi will be travelling to Vientiane in Lao PDR, for the 21st ASEAN-India Summit and the 19th East Asia Summit at the invitation of Prime Minister of Lao PDR, Sonexay Siphandone,” Mazumdar stated on Wednesday during a special briefing on PM Modi’s trip to Laos. The visit is scheduled for October 10 and 11. We consider all ASEAN-related mechanisms to be quite important. The Prime Minister will be attending the ASEAN-India Summit for the tenth time.”

Mazumdar went on to emphasize the importance of the gathering, saying, “This particular summit will be significant because it is the tenth anniversary of the Prime Minister’s Act East policy.” Along with other heads of state from ASEAN nations, the PM will assess the development of India-ASEAN relations and determine the course of our relationship going forward.

On the fringes of the two summits, it is anticipated that Prime Minister Modi would have bilateral encounters. Let’s go on to the East Asia Summit, which includes eight partners—Australia, China, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Russia, and the United States—as well as ten ASEAN nations. In addition, Timor-Leste would participate as an observer, he declared. Since 2005, this mechanism has been in place. Additionally, it aims to advance regional peace, security, and development by fostering strategic trust in the area. “The Prime Minister announced the Indo-Pacific Ocean Initiative (IPOI) at the East Asia Summit,” he continued. On this, we collaborate closely with ASEAN nations. Our partners in East Asia are the US, Australia, and Japan; three ASEAN nations are Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore.
