India To Participate for the 1st time In Iconic Hong Kong Sixes Tournament Since 2012

The renowned cricket competition, Hong Kong Sixes, is about to make a comeback for the first time since 2017. And here is the big reveal-  India will also participate in the competition, which is scheduled to take place on November 1–November 3. Notably, the event had an original format that sets it apart from T20s or T10, and it was held every year. Nevertheless, it has only been carried out once since 2012.

Cricket Hong Kong verified the news in a post on X. “Team India is gearing up to smash it out of the park at HK6! 🇮🇳 Prepare for explosive power hitting and a storm of sixes that will electrify the crowd,” the message read.

Notably, one of the 11 countries taking part in the competition is India. This includes Pakistan which means that there could be a prospect of an India vs Pakistan confrontation in the competition.

Regarding the competition itself, it was first held in 1992 in its original form. This format, in which each team is only permitted to field six players, has seen participation from several greats of the game, including Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara. There are only four fielders permitted, excluding the keeper and the bowler. There are five overs each side since everyone, save the keeper, must bowl one over.
