In the midst of rising tensions between Tel Aviv and the Iran-backed Hezbollah, Israel conducted attacks targeting the organization’s intelligence headquarters in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. Days prior to the last attack, Israel had murdered the group’s Chief Nasrallah and severely damaged its command structure.

Targeted in an underground bunker were the alleged new Hezbollah head, Hashem Safieddine, by the most recent airstrikes. But as of right now, no information could confirm his fate. Buildings in the Township of Dahiye were destroyed by Israeli jets, causing devastating damages. Even after Nasrallah was assassinated in the same suburb one week prior, the strikes persisted on Thursday.

The most recent confrontation between the IDF and Hezbollah came after Iran attacked Israel two days prior, firing over 200 missiles against its main regional adversary in retaliation for the assassinations of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah supremo Nasrallah.

The UN envoy for Israel made a suggestion about a major reaction to the Iranian attack. He told CNN that the military council of the nation is considering its options and “will not sit idly by” in the wake of Iran’s attack. “This was an unprecedented reaction, and as I stated in the Security Council, there would be a severe, agonizing reaction. Soon, I promise,” Danny Danon remarked.
