A Delhi doctor was shot dead in his cabin by two teens at Nima Hospital. Police suspect a targeted attack and are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the killers.

In a shocking incident, a doctor was shot dead inside his office at Nima Hospital in Jaitpur, within the Kalindi Kunj police station limits. Two teenage boys, between 16 and 17 years of age, reached the hospital for treatment for a wound, said Delhi Police. After their wounds were treated, they asked to see the doctor, Javed Akhtar-a Unani practitioner.

The moment the teenagers entered Dr. Akhtar’s cabin, they opened fire and he was killed on the spot. The nurse who was working at this hour, Gajala Parveen, and Md Kamil, working with him, have treated one of the attackers earlier for an injury on his toe. They came out from the cabin when they heard the gunshot, since they reached the doctor’s cabin, they saw Dr. Akhtar lying in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound on the left side of his head.

The analysts say that it is quite an planned killing. Assaulters who avowedly had treated at that night might have surveyed there before killing. Police are scanning CCTV footage in a bid to identify the suspects and get further information.

This incident has created shock waves among people within the community of the capital and questioned the safety of healthcare service providers.
