In September, Delhi has already seen surplus rainfall, clocking 192.5mm against a monthly normal of 123.4mm. The monsoon total stands at 1,029.9mm, against an average of 640.3mm. The annual total is 1,074.6mm, far more than the annual average of 774.4mm.

Sunday saw clear, blue sky in Delhi, which, despite no notable precipitation, maintained a “satisfactory” air quality index of 76 for the fourth day in a row, according to the daily bulletin from the Central Pollution Control Board. Weather experts anticipate that by the end of this week, the monsoon will have left Delhi-NCR since there is little chance of rain in Delhi for the next six days.
There’s a probability that we’ll witness an escape from Delhi-NCR throughout the following three to four days. The majority of the sky will remain clear, and starting on Monday, westerly breezes are predicted, which will further dry out the weather. This week, a major advancement in the retreat is anticipated, according to Skymet meteorological vice president Mahesh Palawat.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon withdrawal this year has been almost a week later than usual. This is evident from its departure from certain regions of west Rajasthan and Gujarat on September 23, which is six days later than its customary date of September 17. There is also a delay in withdrawal from Delhi, which usually takes place on September 25. Even though the withdrawal was formally announced on September 30, it was also postponed last year.
Since last Thursday, Delhi’s air quality index has also stayed below 100, with readings of 76, 67, 80, and 97, respectively, all falling into the “satisfactory” zone. Delhi’s AQI is probably going to fall into the “moderate” range from Monday through Wednesday. In its bulletin on Sunday, the Center’s Early Warning System (EWS) for Delhi stated that the outlook for the next six days indicates that the AQI is expected to fall into the “moderate” category.
