In talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to an early settlement of the Ukrainian conflict and the restoration of peace and stability in the area. On the fringes of the UN’s historic Summit of the Future on Monday, Modi—who is in New York for the final day of his three-day visit to the US—met Zelenskyy.

In about three months, the two leaders had met three times before. On August 23, as the prime minister was visiting the nation, they had their most recent meeting in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. Modi spoke with Zelenskyy in June while in Apulia, Italy, for the G7 summit.

According to the press release, Modi reaffirmed “India’s clear, consistent, and constructive approach in favour of a peaceful resolution of the conflict through diplomacy and dialogue as well as engagement between all stakeholders.” Additionally, the prime minister stated that India is still willing to offer “all support within its means to facilitate a lasting and peaceful resolution of the conflict”.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated during a special briefing here that Zelenskyy praised the prime minister for his efforts in finding a solution to the Ukrainian issue and appreciated India’s attention to it during the meeting.
