This year EID- al- Milad is celebrated on Monday 16 September, 2024 . On Milad un-Nabi, the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, or Mohammad. Many Muslims in India celebrate EID- e- Milad, which is Known by various names, including Nabi Day, Mawlid, the Prophet’s birthday, and the birthday of Muhammad. Milad un-Nabi is a gazetted holiday in India.

How to Celebrate ?

Observers of Milad-un-Nabi get-togethers commemorate, talk about, and rejoice at the arrival of the Prophet Muhammad and his teachings. To friends and relatives, some send electronic cards on Milad-un-Nabi. While the Shi’a community celebrates this occasion on the 17th of Rabi’ al-awwal, many Sunni Muslims celebrate it on the 12th of the Islamic month.

When participating in these activities, many individuals wear green attire or ribbons, carry green flags or banners, or both. Islam and heaven are represented by the color green. The Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar, which is located in the Indian province of Jammu and Kashmir, is a popular meeting place for Kashmiri Muslims. It is thought to include a hair that belonged to the prophet Muhammad. At the shrine, thousands of people gather for prayers the night before Milad un-Nabi.
