MP Assault-Rape Case: Three Arrested After Army Officers Attacked, Woman Friend Raped In Mhow
Three of the six people who are accused of assaulting two young Indian Army officers and raping their female friend near Mhow in the Indore district have reportedly been detained by the state of Madhya Pradesh.
The news of the arrests coincided with criticism of the Bharatiya Janata Party by Congress national secretary Priyanka Gandhi and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for the incident, claiming that the saffron party’s states had “non-existent” law and order. Bhabhar was accused of threatening the two Army soldiers and their two female friends with a pistol during the incident, while the other accused were holding sticks, according to Superintendent of Police (Rural), Hitika Vasal.

When the accused got to the picnic area at around two in the morning, police said, he began attacking a male cop and his female companion who were seated in the car.The other officer and his female friend, who were perched on a hilltop, arrived at the scene upon hearing the disturbance. The Army commanders and their female friends were later taken to Mhow Civil Hospital after police arrived at the scene.
According to a police spokesman, Anil Baror, 27, and Pawan Bansunia, 23, appeared before a local court and were placed under five days’ remand in police prison. According to news agency , another accused, 25-year-old Ritesh Bhabhar, was taken into custody on Thursday night.
A medical check verified the sexual assault of one of the victims. Based on the complaint filed by the officer, a case has been registered under sections of the Arms Act and under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita under sections 70 (gang rape), 310-2 (dacoity), 308-2 (extortion), and 115-2 (voluntarily causing pain).
