What Is Teachers’ Day?
Teachers’ Day is a memorable day that has been dedicated for honoring the great work teachers do in the lives of people. It’s a day to show appreciation to them for the hard work, dedication and patience they have shown while educating young souls and minds. This day celebration recognises the significant contribution of teachers in the all round development of the students and the general achievement of the society in it’s development through education.

History of Teachers’ Day: Promoting Teacher’s Day in India started in 1962 after a proposal by Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Instead of celebrating his birthday separately each year, Radhakrishnan proposed to commemorate his birthday as Teachers’ Day, as a mark of honour for all teachers. This was informed by his notion that teachers should receive an honor collectively in recognition to their endeavors towards the discipline of teaching. For a vision he brought about on proposal that set a benchmark for celebrating the teachers beginning with September 5th as Teacher’s Day.

Importance of Teachers’ Day: Teachers’ Day is not as simple as people think; it has much more profound meaning into it than what is observed at first sight. This is a wakeup call to positive values that teachers embody to the lives of their students in terms of academics and personality.
