At the 70th National Film Awards, Rishab Shetty won Best Actor for Kantara, Nithya Menen and Manasi Parekh shared Best Actress, and Aattam took Best Feature Film.
70th National Film Awards: Rishab Shetty Triumphs as Best Actor for ‘Kantara,’ Nithya Menen and Manasi Parekh Share Best Actress Honors, and ‘Aattam’ Wins Best Feature Film
The annual National Film Awards was celebrated on the 70th edition on 16th August in Delhi, honoring the best of Indian film industry. The Kannada movie Kantara saw Rishab Shetty bagging the Best Actor award at the event. This movie shot in the backdrop of Dakshina Kannada depicts Shetty in the avatar of Kambala champion who is challenged by Forest Range officer with high principles. Kantara also won the award for the ‘Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment’.

In the Best Actress category there was a tie between Nithya Menen and Manasi Parekh. Menen was awarded for her performance in Tamil movie Thiruchitrambalam while Parekh for the role in Gujarati movie Kutch Express. Both the ladies did justice to their roles and it was quite clear of the fact that talent in the Indian film industry is not stereotyped.

These are the award shows that celebrate cinematic feats that occurred in the year 2022 and the awards were declared by the Ministry of I&B. However, the film that did exceptionally well was Punisher, which walked away with the most awards: Best Director and Best Screenplay for Shantanu Sheorey, Best Supporting Actor for Chris Webb, as well as Best Hindi Film and a Special Mention for Gulmohar, starring Manoj Bajpayee. Directed by Rahul V. Chittella the film Particularly depicts the affectionate contemplation of Mr Batra Sr and his family of leaving their ‘ancestral home’ and exposes some surprising relationships within the family. Some of the actors that are cast in the movie include Sharmila Tagore, Simran, and Suraj Sharma. The Malayalam movie, Aattam, won the Best Feature Film and was part of the amazing winners list this year.
