Widespread Google Outage Disrupts Global Access to Gmail, Search, and YouTube, Leaving Millions Frustrated
Another big tech upset came as Gmail, Google Search and YouTube went down on Monday, leaving the consumers all over the world fumed. The failure that started at approximately 9 am ET was immediately spotted by Downdetector, which is a website that monitors outages of online services. What makes this outage even more symbolic is that it occurred only several days after the massive Windows outage on August 12th while the world saw a number of similar incidents lately.

– problems were reported critically; especially in key cities of the United States of America such as Los Angeles and New York; other areas such as Houston, San Francisco, and Chicago also experienced the impact as well. Downdetector indicates that 57 % of the people complained that they were having issues with the search engine, while 31 % of people complained that they were having problems with the website, while 11 % of the people complained that they were having issues with Google Drive.

As the work day commenced in America, rivals posted their sentiments on social media pages. Some user humorously tweeted that “Sometimes I try to google ‘Is Google down?’ I think I got my answer.” The reports from the UK, Europe, Asia and South America claimed that the problem was truly international.

Some users said that their problems were solved in short order, but others remained problematic throughout the day. The reason behind the power failure has not been ascertained, yet millions of people are stuck in a limbo and comfort. To date, Google has not offered any information regarding the interruption seen on Monday during the company’s earnings call.
