On Friday, Aman Sehrawat secured India’s sixth medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, claiming the fifth bronze and earning the first wrestling medal. The Indian wrestler defeated Puerto Rico’s Darian Cruz by 13-5 in the bronze-medal match of the men’s Freestyle 57kg weight category. Aman Sehrawat made history by becoming India’s youngest medal winner at the Summer Games at the age of 21, surpassing PV Sindhu’s record of 21 years, one month, and 14 days set during the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Shooter Manu Bhaker met Rahul Gandhi

Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker met Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, two days post her return from Olympics with two medals. Bhaker met Gandhi along with her coach Jaspal Rana and family members. The Congress leader praised Bhaker for her remarkable achievement and extended best wishes for her future pursuits. Bhaker earned a bronze medal in both the women’s 10-metre air pistol event and the 10-metre air pistol mixed team event.

Imane Khelif wins gold in Paris Olympics

Imane Khelif, a female boxer from Algeria, has secured the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Imane Khelif achieved a gold medal in the women’s 66 kg weight division on Friday. There was a lot of news coverage surrounding the gender controversy of Algeria’s female boxer, Imane Khelif and was also charged with being a biological male. Imane emerged victorious in the final showdown, defeating Yang Liu of China to claim the gold medal.

Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem showered with gifts

Nadeem’s throw of 92.97m secured Pakistan’s first Olympic medal in 32 years. After the remarkable victory, Nadeem is set to receive numerous rewards, as government officials and notable figures in Pakistan have reportedly already announced various cash prizes and honors. Nadeem is set to receive a grand amount of more than PKR 150 million. Famous Pakistani singer Ali Zafar has announced he is donating PKR 1 million to Nadeem, with cricketer Ahmad Shahzad also contributing the same amount from his foundation.

Debate between Vinesh Phogat and United World Wrestling

Vinesh Phogat was unable to compete in the wrestling final for the 50 kg weight category because she exceeded the weight limit by 100 grams. There was a strong belief that Vinesh would secure the gold medal, however, she was ruled out on the final day. Following this, Vinesh went to CAS to request the silver medal. According to reports, the discussion between Vinesh Phogat and United World Wrestling (UWW) lasted approximately one hour. The decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will be announced today at 9:30 pm Indian time regarding the appeal against wrestler Vinesh Phogat’s Olympic disqualification.
